‘Puerto Rico Meets NYC’ Launches Its First Festival

Posted in Event Preview on September 16, 2015

From Wednesday, September 30, through Sunday, October 4, some of Puerto Rico’s greatest culinary talent will come to New York for the first-ever Puerto Rico Meets NYC celebration, with events across the city. (This will be the second event in the “Meets NYC” series, after a successful “Baja Meets NYC” conference in 2014.)

At seven different New York restaurants, local chefs will team up with Puerto Rican counterparts for one-time-only dinner collaborations, with ambitious Puerto Rican-inspired tasting menus. Puerto Rican chefs include José Santaella, Mario Pagan and Wilo Benet, while their New York counterparts include highly regarded chefs from Eric Ripert to Camille Becerra. The Chef’s Club and the James Beard House will host dinners as well.

And on October 4, the “Lechon Asado Block Party Brunch” at Roberta’s garden will feature endless roast pork lechon, plus additional Puerto Rican specialties from alcapurrias to longaniza sausages, mofongo, and, of course, rum cocktails.
