Eataly, the superstore dedicated to all manner of Italian food and drink, has often been compared to an Italian theme park. But their latest venture — FICO Eataly World, coming to Bologna in the second half of 2017 — is the closest thing yet.
In the heart of Emilia Romagna, considered by even those in other regions to be the capital of Italian cuisine, FICO Eataly World will expand over 20 acres, celebrating every aspect of food production “from field to fork.” Produce will be grown in Eataly’s fields and served in the markets and restaurants, with activities from pasta-making to cheesemaking to olive oil production all taking place onsite.
With four acres of farms and pastures, 25 restaurants, 2.5 acres of markets and stalls, and hundreds of events planned annually, FICO Eataly World will extend far beyond the brand’s current stores, offering an extensive and unparalleled destination for anyone appreciating Italian cuisine. The project will devote special attention to sustainable farming practices and food education — so there’s much to learn as visitors snack their way through the utterly unique destination.
