In 1988, Mark founded Dataworks, a technology-centric business designed to assist small businesses with their general technology needs. The story changed in 1991, when a request for hospitality technology was made, and subsequently became the catalyst by which Retail Automation Products (RAP PoS) was born. At the time, most hospitality related technology companies had their roots in cash register sales, but Mark quickly realized that his robust experience in MIS and Finance was an excellent foundation on which to build a business in an industry that was quickly transforming from a commodity based industry, to a more sophisticated, consultative based industry. The company grew consistently, and added to its portfolio many of NY’s most respected operators. With well over 1,200 customers in several states, the company became one of the largest hospitality technology providers in the country. In June of 2012, RAP PoS was acquired by NCR Corporation, an international technology company focused on several vertical markets, including hospitality. Mark has stayed on as Sales Director for the Local NCR Local Office. Giving back to the industry has always been important, and Mark serves on the advisory boards of several startups, and has been a frequent guest lecturer for The Institute for Culinary Education (ICE). He is often sought out by investment groups for opinions related to the state of the hospitality industry. He continually seeks out new opportunities for growth, and remains a creative force at NCR’s local NY office. Mark believes New York City offers a wonderful balance of both business and pleasure, where he now resides with his wife Debbie, and two sons Evan and Dean.
